For Children 2017-06-19T19:34:07+00:00

At Birchill Farm we adore children.

All our cottages have been designed to cater for the needs of babies, toddlers and children. We know that the key to a successful holiday is happy children and Birchill Farm is just the place to be.  With private grounds and a secure perimeter you can remain relaxed knowing your children are safe.

Explore our fully enclosed, farm-themed outdoor play area. Here there are plenty of opportunities for your little bundles of joy to be creative and to interact with other children. You can also take a walk around our magical woodland, wandering along the zig-zag paths, trying to spot the hidden bird boxes. Or follow the winding road to our new gypsy caravan playhouse. We also have a tractor shed, with lots of ride-on mini tractors, ideal for those odd rainy days.

Talking of rainy days, our indoor play barn is a perfect distraction from the gloom outside, with a soft play area, play cafe and lots more games and activities to take part in.

And for slightly older children, there is our new play den, with table football, a pool table and boxes filled with toys for 5 to 8 year olds.

We have so much to discover and enjoy, that there’s no time to be bored.

We know how stressful going on holiday with babies and toddlers can be, so we have tried hard to design and equip our cottages to make your family holiday as relaxing as possible.

And so you don’t have to pack everything except the kitchen sink, we have a selection of baby and toddler equipment for you to borrow free of charge (subject to availability) –  just let us know what you need.

Please book at least 7 days in advance of your stay.

  • A small toddler bed (size 140 x 70cms), suitable for children 2-4 years, will fit into the main bedrooms in The Granary, Bryony, Willow, Hazel and Primrose cottages. It will fit into the second bedroom in Oak Apple and Bryony cottages and into the third bedroom in The Granary. The toddler bed may not be used to increase occupancy, that is one of the other beds in the cottage must remain unoccupied so that the cottage does not exceed the maximum occupancy.
  • Wooden cot (we have one wooden dropside cot available). Please note: a cot mattress protector is provided but please bring your own cot bedding
  • Stair gates (already fitted top and bottom in cottages with stairs)
  • Bed guard
  • Baby bath
  • Baby monitor
  • Bumbo baby sitter
  • Bouncing cradle
  • Travel cot with comfy mattress
  • Travel cot with bassinet
  • Steam steriliser
  • Highchair

In addition you will find a toy box (always check the suitability of the toys inside our toy boxes for the age of your child), a Sangenic nappy disposal bin, a changing mat, a step up stool, some socket covers, a hand food blender and baby/toddler bowls and cutlery in every cottage.

“We promised ourselves that we would return and twelve months down the line here we are. You make this holiday so so special; Margaret with your fantastic cooking and Simon with your interaction with the children when feeding the animals. We cannot thank you both enough and we will definitely be back.”
